April 30th was an exhilarating day at Carmel, as the members of the Atal Tinkering Lab geared up for the first ever AI Fest. Ranging from classes VI to X, these kids had worked hard to showcase several interesting games based on Artificial Intelligence. The principal Sister Shanta Fernandes inaugurated Technoscape and went around to see and play each game.

The school’s Physics and ATL labs were transformed into a Sci-fi zone as many school children from across the city walked in to be blown away by the immersive experience. There was a robot that danced, laughed, and moved based on the user’s hand gestures. An augmented reality-based dragon was next, and one could view an imaginary dragon flying over the real surroundings.  The visitors could answer questions to riddles in sign language in another game. The AI based dance challenge was a big hit as was the gesture driven car. In one of the projects, one could try to play the piano by dipping a small stick into several bowls of water. You could also play basketball and the scores would be automatically updated through a code written for the same.

The school students also visited the fest and were both overawed and inspired by the games. All in all, it was a truly unique experience, and one couldn’t help feeling amazed by the skills shown by the young coders of the Atal Tinkering Lab under the able guidance of Ma’am Meenakshi.
