On 23rd November, 2024, Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh, celebrated the Annual Sports Day for their Primary Wing with great enthusiasm and fervour. The evening commenced with the welcoming of the chief guest, Joint Director, Sports, Chandigarh Administration, Dr Mahender Singh and special guest Sister Diane, Provincial Councillor for Education. The programme began with the lighting of the divine lamp by all the dignitaries followed by a prayer song by the Primary Choir. The School Principal, Sr Sefali, welcomed everyone and encouraged the young Carmelites to continue to deliver their best and excel with values, in every sphere of life. The School Band enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing and synchronised tunes and rhythm. The audience witnessed some amazing track events in which the young, energetic athletes displayed their agility and fitness . The sports day was also an occasion to honour and felicitate the students who had excelled in different sports events at various levels bringing laurels to their Alma Mater. This was followed by the young mystic yogis of the primary wing, showcasing various asanas with great ease and perfection. The little ones of class I looked adorable, dressed up in bright green, while they presented the 'Sunflower drill'. Students from various grades amazed the audience with perfect self-defence moves of Taekwondo. The young Carmelites of Class II, gave a splendid performance with their colourful 'Butterfly drill’. Students of Class III, captivated the audience with their artistic 'Japanese fan drill'. Students of classes IV and V, exhibited their physical fitness and agility through an impeccable PT drill display and foot tapping Zumba moves. This was followed by the grand finale that witnessed all the young Carmelites, joining in on the school grounds, and performing together as one team. At the end of the program, the chief guest, Dr Mahendra Singh, addressed the audience. He congratulated the students for their outstanding performance and emphasized the significance of sports in the lives of all students. He urged students to stay active and disciplined in all their endeavours.
