On 1st October 2024, Mother Veronica's Birthday was celebrated at Carmel Convent School. The special celebration by Mother Veronica Committee commenced in the auditorium with a rendition of soulful hymns. A unique prayer service saw students dressed up as Mother Veronica and angels. This was followed by the screening of the movie 'Strange Destiny' on the life of Mother Veronica. Based on her autobiography as a pioneer in Women's education in India, the film traces her journey of faith and courage against norms of her times; both personal and institutional. The inspirational movie captivated the audience so much that after the movie a lot of students and teachers shared how profoundly they had been affected by our Venerable Mother's life. Speaking on this occasion, the Principal Sister Sefali encouraged the students to get inspired by the life of Mother Veronica and uplift others in need.
Vice Principal, Sister Premalini, enlightened the students about the 'I am a Girl - I Care' mission. Sister invited all Carmelites to contribute to the noble cause at the fundraiser to be held in the school premises on 4th October.
The rest of the celebration continued in the classrooms with several competitions organised for all the classes, like poetry writing, pencil shading, book mark making, leaf art painting etc on the life of Mother Veronica. Three best entries were chosen from each class. The day ended on a sweet note with distribution of chocolates to the students.
On October 4, 2024, the fundraiser got an overwhelming response from students with a huge number of stalls of baked goodies, games, photo booth, jewellery items, accessories and DJ. The event not only raised funds for the worthy cause but also gave an opportunity to the students to exercise their entrepreneurship skills.
