On August 15, 2024, the students of Carmel Convent School celebrated the freedom that our country achieved 77 years ago through a long struggle for independence. The chief guest on this occasion was Ma’am Harbhag Kaur who was led by the school band to the stage to unfurl the national flag. After singing the national anthem, the staff and students gathered in the school auditorium for the programme. The students of class XI welcomed the guests of honour Sister Sefali, Sister Isabel, Sister Satya and Sister Premalini, Ma’am Harbhag, Ma’am Sonia, Ma’am Lovey, Ma’am Vandna Sharma with saplings and the national flag pin. The programme started with prayers from various scriptures for the nation and the people in it. This was followed by an inter squad patriotic songs competition, where each squad put up a wonderful show in front of the two judges, Ma’am Meenu and Ma’am Manisha. A play showcasing the unsung heroes of the nation was next and this was an eyeopener for many who had not heard about their sacrifices. This was followed by an energetic dance to a medley of patriotic songs by the students of primary.
Ma’am Harbhag addressed the students in her inimitable style and they responded with a loud applause. Sister Sefali appreciated the programme organized by the students along with the class teachers of class XI. She then announced the results of the patriotic song competition and handed the certificates, trophies and medals to the Satya Sqaud choir(winners) followed by the Namrata Squad choir(runners up).
