October 24 and 25 were days of festivities at Carmel as the school celebrated Diwali. On 24th October the classrooms were decorated with Torals and Rangolis. There was colourful creativity on display in every nook and corner of the buildings.
On 25th of October, the students gathered in the school auditorium for the much-awaited Diwali program organized by the students of class VIII, under the able guidance of the class teachers and the music teachers. The program started with the traditional prayers and blessings on this auspicious occasion. This was followed by bhajan renditions in semi classical form by the school choir. The Durga Puja dance, the garba, and other classical dances depicted the various celebrations that mark this joyous time of the year. The students enacted the traditional Ramlila to showcase the significance of the festival. A short presentation showed the important events that are also celebrated at this time across various regions in India. The students of primary school presented a dance about the return of Rama to Ayodhya.
The students of class VIII ended the program with a Nukkad Natak talking about the harmful effects of fire crackers on the environment and the significance of a safe and green Diwali. The entire school took a pledge to celebrate a green Diwali, after which the students conducted a short rally.
Speaking on this occasion the Principal Sr. Sefali wished everyone a safe and blessed Diwali, while urging the students to celebrate a green Diwali.
